Volunteer for Projects (m/f/x)
Do you think it’s important to share the stories of the Watersnoodmuseum with more people? And do you speak more than one language? Then we really need your help!
What can you do for us?
Would you like to help share the stories and knowledge about the 1953 flood and the human fight against water with a wider audience? Do you speak Dutch and also English, German or French? Are you interested in working on our different projects?
As a volunteer for projects, you use your language skills and knowledge to support us. You might translate personal stories from the flood or help us expand our knowledge center or digital museum.
Why become a volunteer with us?
- There are always several projects. You can work on the one that suits you best.
- Some projects are digital. Would you rather work from home? That’s possible.
- There’s always something to do. You’re welcome any day of the week.
- You choose your own hours and how many you want to work.
- With a volunteer contract, you are insured and you know where you stand.
- You’ll work in a friendly team with both volunteers and museum staff.
- You are welcome at events and lectures organized by the Watersnoodmuseum.
- Every year we organize a fun day out for our volunteers – that includes you!

About the museum
The Watersnoodmuseum wants to keep the memory of the 1953 flood disaster and other floods around the world alive, out of respect for the victims. The museum also helps people learn about the risks of water and climate change, and think about solutions.
We do this by telling stories about the 1953 flood and other water disasters. Visitors are encouraged to think about how we live with water, climate change, and sea level rise. The Watersnoodmuseum is the place in the Netherlands – and the world – where people of all ages reflect on the challenges and hope that water brings. A place where heart and mind come together.
