Our Knowledge Center

At the Watersnoodmuseum, we do more than just reflect on the 1953 Flood. We also place great importance on water knowledge. How can we best live with water? How can we use it effectively? And how do we provide water with the space it needs?

There are many questions we can and must ask ourselves about water and water safety. Our Knowledge Centre exists to address all these questions.

Flood Academy

The Knowledge Centre offers a variety of programmes aimed at spreading and expanding water knowledge. One such example is the Flood Academy.

The Flood Academy brings people together to talk about climate change and water safety. We organise workshops, discussions and creative meetings. On our international platform, young people from all over the world share their stories in videos. They show how water affects their lives and what they do to stay safe. By learning from each other, we discover ways to better deal with water-related challenges.

Research and Education

The Knowledge Centre is not only a resource for those eager to learn about water knowledge but also serves as a hub for water experts.

Through the Youth Watersnood Museum and our special educational packages, younger generations are introduced to water safety and water awareness.

Water experts use this space to stay updated on the latest research in the field. What is required for a sustainable and thriving Delta? And are floating cities the future?

Water Awareness

Scientific knowledge alone does not necessarily lead to awareness. Understanding the multifaceted nature of water—both its benefits and its risks—requires more than just facts. The emotional impacts can sometimes feel distant or abstract.

Culture plays a crucial role in bringing these important stories to light, making them more tangible. That’s why we also provide a platform for artists, who can reveal aspects of water that might otherwise remain hidden.
